Another MVC

At 18:09 hours on Friday 20 July the C Platoon was alerted for a MVC on American Legion Road. Units responded and found a single car accident at the entrance to the American legion hall. The two occupants of the car were not seriously injured and ended up refusing medical care. Sunrise Beach units remained on the scene to assist Sunrise Beach PD with traffic control.

As we move through the summer session the Fire District would like to take a minute to remind everyone to slow down and drive with care. We respond to a high volume of motor vehicle collisions. Even though most of these responses are not to serious accidents, it only takes a second for a serious situation to occur. Drive safe and enjoy your time here at the Beach.

Good Luck “Captain Z”

After more than 40 years in the fire service, ten of which were here at Sunrise Beach, Captain Don Zolecki has decided to move on.  One of the senior members of our staff, Captain Z has been involved with many significant projects and has provided guidance and wisdom to many of our members.  We were lucky to have Don on our staff and wish him well in all his future endeavors.

The Board of Directors hosted a coffee & donut breakfast for the Captain On Monday 11 June. The event was well attended by our staff & volunteers, a true indicator of the respect that we have for Don.

Station 2 Updates

Now that the staffed company has settled into the new Fire Station 2, the personnel have begun working on the landscaping projects to finish off the station. The Fire District wants to make sure that the Station’s appearance adds to the neighborhood and demonstrates the pride that we have in our organization.

Through a lot of hard work the project is really coming along. We anticipate the bulk of the work to be within the next several weeks. This has been a true team project many of our volunteers have worked side by side with the career staff to move this along.

A special note of thanks goes out to our resident landscaping guru's A Platoon along with volunteer Marc Sutcliffe for the installation of the irrigation system, B Platoon along with volunteers Luke & Brandy Delhotal who spent a long hard hot day getting the site ready for sod & the A Platoon, and volunteers Marc Sutcliffe & Dave Yelton who volunteered their time to help lay the sod.

Heavy Equipment donations by: Captain Fuellemann & Michael Hufferd.
Great job to all involved!
