Lake Ozark goes 3rd Alarm

At 23:32 hours on Thursday February 23rd the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District was alerted for a mutual aid response to Lake Ozark. First alarm units from Lake Ozark encountered a well advanced fire in a “Tax Player” type structure. The fire rapidly went to 3 alarms. E 12-21 was assigned to advance a handline into the “B” exposure and ensure that the fire did not communicate into the exposure. Chief Reilly was assigned as the Operations Chief and oversaw the tactical operations.
The members had to contend with several difficult issues to include water supply, extremely high winds, and the proximity of the exposures. Thanks to the hard work and aggressive actions of all the firefighters on this assignment the fire was basically contained to the original building.

Units on the assignment:

E 12-21 with Captain Fuellemann, FF Baker & FF Hemen

Chief 1200 with Chief Reilly

Recognition also goes to our members who responded to the stations to cover the District. It should be noted that because of this response we were able to maintain District coverage and could have easily responded with additional equipment.

Over the Embankment for the A Platoon

At 0634 hours on Wednesday February the 22nd, S.B.F.P.D. was toned for a motor vehicle accident on North State Highway 5.  The accident was reported as a vehicle over-turned.  Units arrived within 5 minutes of  being dispatched and found one vehicle down an embankment, well off the road. The sole occupant of the vehicle was found sitting outside the truck.  Due to the mechanisms of this incident it was decided to use full spinal immobilization protocols.  Units from the Sunrise Beach FPD assisted Lake West Ambulance with this process.  Because of the difficult terrain, E-12-22 deployed their stokes basket to carry the patient from the scene back up to the roadway.  The patient was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Units form the S.B.F.P.D. remained on the scene to assist the Missouri State Patrol with traffic control

Units Responding:

E12-22 with Captain Embich & FF Karl
     T 12-11 with FF Abbott
     1200 With Chief Reilly

A special nod of appreciation to FFs Wieberg & Groce who responded to Station 1 to ensure that our District remained in-service while the duty crew was committed.

Good work folks!

B Platoon Catches Work

At 1057 hours on Monday February 21st Sunrise Beach FPD units responded mutual aid to the Gravois FPD. On arrival members deployed to support the on-going offensive operations. The fire was located in a mobile home with a built-over roof. The fire had gained access to the concealed space between the roof of the mobile home and the rain roof. After extensive operations that included a lot saw work, companies were able to access the seat of the fire and place the incident under control.

Due to the extent of operations additional Sunrise Beach units were called to the scene to assist with overhaul.

This was true joint effort with both career & volunteer members doing a great job to assist a neighboring department and a member of our community who was truly in need.

Hats off to all those who responded!
